Welcome To Our Selection of Holiday Cottages

Alne cottages can be very reasonable value for the UK holiday maker - especially if you avoid the expensive school holiday times. Always remember that the best cottages are not necessarily the most expensive!

As with any holiday, we encourage you to ensure that the facilities meet the needs of your fellow guests (or spouses). If you're travelling with friends they may have very different expectations compared to staying with your family - such as a nearby pub. But the best things in life are sometimes the opposite; a quiet spot of fishing in a stream, a walk through a delightful wood, or just a good meal.

Escape To Alne

In Alne, high season tends to match the summer school holidays, with mid-season a month either side. Mid-July til the end of August are the core weeks for the Alne school summer holidays.

Half term dates are different for different schools, but normally summer half-term is around the first two weeks of June. It's becoming less likely to book the best cottages last minute, but by no means impossible. We recommend you give it a try.

Many cottage owners have signed themselves up with national agencies to help with the marketing and administration, which also helps keep standards to a certain level.

All About Cottages

Before you start to research your holiday accommodation, it's worth asking everyone what they are looking for. If you're travelling to Alne in a group of single people, are there enough beds in the bedrooms?

Many Alne visitors like to bring their pets (normally dogs) when they go on holiday. If the description of the Alne cottage does not indicate that its pet friendly, please contact the owner before confirming the booking.

Don't forget to make the most of your North Yorkshire holiday - none of us get enough of them!

Cottages For Holidays

Self-catering always makes your holiday more relaxing in Alne. You take away some of the pressure that appears when staying in a hotel or b and b - you must eat your meals at this time, you must order from this menu.

And if you have specific dietary needs, whether that's something relatively common like vegetarianism or a more unusual food allergy, cooking your own food allows you peace of mind. Waking up without the alarm, cooking a nice hearty breakfast, perhaps sitting by the river for a spot of fishing or just reading a book.

There's also a growing number of holidaymakers who just want to get really energetic and try new things, including abseiling, rafting, climbing and even potholing.
