Welcome To Our Selection of Holiday Cottages

In Ardfern, whatever time of year, and whoever you are with, we have a few suggestions for essentials to take along. Start with something to keep the rain away. You can never really be sure of the weather. An umbrella and a raincoat are a good start!

If your family and friends are anything like ours, you should have a good book ready to fill those times when everyone's getting ready, or waiting for them to come back from a long walk. And then we always make sure we have good supplies with us when we arrive so that we can sit down and have a cup of coffee and perhaps a piece of cake before we start that boring unpacking! We find it really hard to decide which type of cottage we like best. Generally we just enjoy going away!

Escape To Ardfern

Ardfern holiday accommodation rates increase in peak season, which is generally around the times of the school summer holidays. Mid-July til the end of August are the core weeks for the Ardfern school summer holidays.

Summer half-term usually appears in the first couple of weeks in June, although different types of schools have different dates. It's becoming less likely to book the best cottages last minute, but by no means impossible. We recommend you give it a try.

Some of the best cottages in the UK are fiercely independent and have incredibly high standards, and more recently the rise of agencies has helped increase standards right across the board.

All About Cottages

Before you book that 16th Century thatched roof cottage with low ceilings, you may want to ask the tallest people in your group/family whether the olde worlds charm outweighs the pain of bumping heads on beams. Is there agreement on an old fashioned cottage, or should you be looking for something contemporary with all the modern appliances?

Dog owners often like to spend their holidays in the UK so that they can take their four legged friends with them. If the description of the Ardfern cottage does not indicate that its pet friendly, please contact the owner before confirming the booking.

Have a great holiday, wherever you stay. Hopefully it will be in a Argyll and Bute cottage found through us!

Cottages For Holidays

Self-catering is an ideal way to holiday in Ardfern. You take away some of the pressure that appears when staying in a hotel or b and b - you must eat your meals at this time, you must order from this menu.

You can decide what food and drink you want to consume, and you can choose when to sit down and eat it... or even stand up and eat it! Waking up without the alarm, cooking a nice hearty breakfast, perhaps sitting by the river for a spot of fishing or just reading a book.

For others it's an opportunity to get more active, from mountain biking to cross-country running. If you're over 60, we recommend the more relaxed approach!
