Welcome To Our Selection of Holiday Cottages

Whatever time you go to Calderstones , we'd like to suggest some things to take to improve your stay. Rainproof clothing and a light umbrella should be the first things to pack. The rain only comes when you are not prepared.

If you like watching films and there's a DVD facility in the cottage then it's a good idea to stock up on some good movies so you can spend a couple of nights enjoying the classics. There are obviously local stores that can supply you with all the food you need, but we always like to arrive with coffee, tea bags, a pint of milk, a bar of chocolate and some bread and butter for the toaster - it's good to get the energy up after a long journey. We love finding great new cottages, part of the fun of a holiday is not quite knowing where you're going!

Escape To Calderstones

The rates for Calderstones cottages are highest in the warmer months, generally aligning with the school holidays. The summer holiday period (for schools) runs from mid-July through the whole of August.

The private and state schools tend to have differing half-term dates, but normally the first half of June is summer half-term. Although we really encourage you too book your cottage early, there are opportunities for last minute bookings, so it can be worth checking.

More and more cottages seem to be signing up with agencies to help with their bookings.

All About Cottages

When you're searching for the best cottage for your stay, make sure that you've thought through the bedroom needs and allocation. If you have young kids in the party you may want to think twice about open fires, and of course some of the oldest cottages may have lower ceilings than those you are used to.

Dogs need holidays too, so it can be fun to bring your favourite pooch to the Calderstones cottage. It's a good idea to ask the owner or agency whether you can take your pet inside the Calderstones cottage. And let them know if it's not a dog!

Don't forget to make the most of your holiday - none of us get enough of them!

Cottages For Holidays

Self-catering is an ideal way to holiday in Calderstones . It's so much more relaxing when you can eat when it suits you - cooking exactly when you want (and whatever you want).

Eat what you want, whenever you want it. And of course that's particularly good if anyone in your party suffers from food allergies or has other dietary requirements. We know many people who consider a holiday cottage as the perfect way to wind down after a busy urban lifestyle - sleep in, take lazy walks through the countryside and take more time over meals.

On the other hand, there's a growing proportion of visitors who use their time away from home to get fitter and try new things - such as mountain biking, horse riding or canoeing.
