Please make sure you check that each cottage has the facilities you require before you make your booking. The available amenities across our range of cottages include the basics such as central heating, to the latest technology such as wi-fi internet. Of course many people travel to get away from it all, and just relax quietly with an open fire and a good book.

Escape To Castleton

In Castleton, high season tends to match the summer school holidays, with mid-season a month either side. The summer holiday period (for schools) runs from mid-July through the whole of August.

The private and state schools tend to have differing half-term dates, but normally the first half of June is summer half-term. Last minute bookings are alway possible, though clearly your choices will be fewer. It really is worth booking early.

In recent years there has been an increase in the size of cottage agencies. Generally speaking that means that someone is always checking the quality of Castleton accommodation, either in person, or based on customer feedback.

All About Cottages

When you choose your Castleton accommodation its worth bearing in mind the group of people staying with you. If you have young kids in the party you may want to think twice about open fires, and of course some of the oldest cottages may have lower ceilings than those you are used to.

Many Castleton visitors like to bring their pets (normally dogs) when they go on holiday. We always suggest that you check with the owner if there are no pet details listed. And even if there are, it can be a good idea to let them know so they can put out a bowl of water for your dog's arrival.

Don't forget to make the most of your Perth and Kinross holiday - none of us get enough of them!

Cottages For Holidays

Self-catering always makes your holiday more relaxing in Castleton. We like the freedom of eating meals when we want. There's something wrong with taking a holiday and then finding out that you have to get up early or you miss the breakfast you've paid for.

You can decide what food and drink you want to consume, and you can choose when to sit down and eat it... or even stand up and eat it! A large number of our visitors like to use their stay as an opportunity to just put their feet up, gaze at the scenery, take an afternoon nap, and enjoy a nice home cooked meal. Just taking it easy in Castleton.

For others it's an opportunity to get more active, from mountain biking to cross-country running. If you're over 60, we recommend the more relaxed approach!
