Welcome To Our Selection of Holiday Cottages

While school holidays are a significant factor of cottage price, the percentage increase tends to be very similar for all cottages. The Cheddar is becoming increasingly popular so it's a good idea to book early if you can.

As with any holiday, we encourage you to ensure that the facilities meet the needs of your fellow guests (or spouses). We know that many families with young children like to have access to satellite or free view TV channels such as Cbeebies and the Disney Channel. Of course many people travel to get away from it all, and just relax quietly with an open fire and a good book.

Escape To Cheddar

In Cheddar, high season tends to match the summer school holidays, with mid-season a month either side. School holidays tend to be mid-July to the end of August.

If you want to avoid half-term in the summer, draw a line through the first two weeks of June. It's recommended to make an early booking to ensure your date, especially during high season, but it's not impossible to find a last minute opportunity.

More and more cottages seem to be signing up with agencies to help with their bookings.

All About Cottages

Before you start to research your holiday accommodation, it's worth asking everyone what they are looking for. If you're travelling to Cheddar in a group of single people, are there enough beds in the bedrooms?

If you have a dog, you may like to bring him or her to Cheddar with you. Not all places will welcome pets so please make sure that it's either clearly marked on the booking website, or if not drop a quick line to the owner to make sure.

Have a great holiday, wherever you stay. Hopefully it will be in a Somerset cottage found through us!

Cottages For Holidays

Self-catering is an ideal way to holiday in Cheddar. We like the freedom of eating meals when we want. There's something wrong with taking a holiday and then finding out that you have to get up early or you miss the breakfast you've paid for.

Of course it also means that you can skip a meal in the accommodation and just eat out - perhaps grab some fish and chips, or maybe a pizza or burger. For many people the idea of a Cheddar cottage holiday allows them to relax, take long rambling walks and stop off at a country pub for a pint and a ploughman's lunch.

For many, however, its a chance to really do something active, from running and mountain biking to swimming and climbing.
