Welcome To Our Selection of Holiday Cottages

We always make sure we take a good book. There's always plenty of downtime on a cottage holiday, and so it's a great time to catch up on a read. And then we always make sure we have good supplies with us when we arrive so that we can sit down and have a cup of coffee and perhaps a piece of cake before we start that boring unpacking! We love finding great new cottages, part of the fun of a holiday is not quite knowing where you're going!

Escape To Down Hall

Cottage prices in Down Hall will range from high to low throughout the year, but clearly the summer months will be the most expensive as remand increases. School holidays tend to be mid-July to the end of August.

Half term in the summer extends across the first half of June, as different schools break up at different times. Booking early is always a good idea. You have a much better chance of getting your preferred date and accommodation. But, that doesn't mean its impossible to get a late booking.

More and more cottages seem to be signing up with agencies to help with their bookings.

All About Cottages

Before you book that 16th Century thatched roof cottage with low ceilings, you may want to ask the tallest people in your group/family whether the olde worlds charm outweighs the pain of bumping heads on beams. If you're travelling to Down Hall in a group of single people, are there enough beds in the bedrooms?

Many Down Hall visitors like to bring their pets (normally dogs) when they go on holiday. If the description of the Down Hall cottage does not indicate that its pet friendly, please contact the owner before confirming the booking.

Don't forget to make the most of your Cumbria holiday - none of us get enough of them!

Cottages For Holidays

There's no doubt that more and more people are staying in cottages. The cost and inconvenience of international travel is unnecessary when we have such excellent things to do in Down Hall.

Getting away from the boring day to day life at home can be fantastic for families or friends alike. We already have enough rules and timetables in our lives, and a cottage holiday provides total freedom.

You don't have to eat at set times with set menus, get out of the room by a certain time or tiptoe around other guests late at night.
