We always make sure we take a good book. There's always plenty of downtime on a cottage holiday, and so it's a great time to catch up on a read. Finally you should take a few initial supplies, such as tea, coffee, milk, bread and some cheese. Of course you can usually buy them locally but it's easy to forget and there's nothing better than a cup of tea before you start unpacking. We're often asked which is the best place to stay, and it's so hard to answer, it really depends what you are looking for.

Escape To Laneshaw Bridge

The rates for Laneshaw Bridge cottages are highest in the warmer months, generally aligning with the school holidays. School holidays tend to be mid-July to the end of August.

Half term dates are different for different schools, but normally summer half-term is around the first two weeks of June. Although we really encourage you too book your cottage early, there are opportunities for last minute bookings, so it can be worth checking.

Many cottage owners have signed themselves up with national agencies to help with the marketing and administration, which also helps keep standards to a certain level.

All About Cottages

Before you book that 16th Century thatched roof cottage with low ceilings, you may want to ask the tallest people in your group/family whether the olde worlds charm outweighs the pain of bumping heads on beams. Do you need twin beds or double beds, can the kids share a room, will your friends all want separate bedrooms?

Dog owners often like to spend their holidays in the UK so that they can take their four legged friends with them. We always suggest that you check with the owner if there are no pet details listed. And even if there are, it can be a good idea to let them know so they can put out a bowl of water for your dog's arrival.

Have a great holiday, wherever you stay. Hopefully it will be in a cottage found through us!

Cottages For Holidays

Holiday cottages are swiftly becoming one of the most enjoyable ways to spend a week's holiday in the UK. The cost and inconvenience of international travel is unnecessary when we have such excellent things to do in Laneshaw Bridge .

For families, a cottage holiday can be a wonderful experience - free of the humdrum routine of home life. The fact that you are renting a unique 'unit' means that you can do what you want, when you want.

You don't have to eat at set times with set menus, get out of the room by a certain time or tiptoe around other guests late at night.
