Welcome To Our Selection of Holiday Cottages

Whatever time you go to Scarning , we'd like to suggest some things to take to improve your stay. You can never be sure of the weather, so take something to protect you from the rain - ideally something that can be packed in a rucksack just in case.

If you like watching films and there's a DVD facility in the cottage then it's a good idea to stock up on some good movies so you can spend a couple of nights enjoying the classics. Lastly we think turning up with a few things to eat and drink is a good start to your holiday - there's nothing worse than grumpy kids or friends when its time to unpack, and a little chocolate or a cup of coffee can work wonders. We're often asked which is the best place to stay, and it's so hard to answer, it really depends what you are looking for.

Escape To Scarning

The rates for Scarning cottages are highest in the warmer months, generally aligning with the school holidays. School holidays tend to be mid-July to the end of August.

If you want to avoid half-term in the summer, draw a line through the first two weeks of June. It's becoming less likely to book the best cottages last minute, but by no means impossible. We recommend you give it a try.

Some of the best cottages in the UK are fiercely independent and have incredibly high standards, and more recently the rise of agencies has helped increase standards right across the board.

All About Cottages

Before you book that 16th Century thatched roof cottage with low ceilings, you may want to ask the tallest people in your group/family whether the olde worlds charm outweighs the pain of bumping heads on beams. If you have young kids in the party you may want to think twice about open fires, and of course some of the oldest cottages may have lower ceilings than those you are used to.

Many Scarning visitors like to bring their pets (normally dogs) when they go on holiday. It's a good idea to ask the owner or agency whether you can take your pet inside the Scarning cottage. And let them know if it's not a dog!

Wherever you stay, whether it's in Scarning or elsewhere, we hope you have a fabulous holiday!

Cottages For Holidays

There's no doubt that more and more people are staying in cottages. It just seems a little pointless to fly half way around the world when there are so many great places to see in Scarning .

Getting away from the boring day to day life at home can be fantastic for families or friends alike. Other types of accommodation are far more rigid, which just doesn't seem so much fun to us.

You have all the choice you need; you can order in a takeaway, eat out in a local restaurant or pub, and come and go as you please.
