We think a good book is another essential. Not just an opportunity to catch up on your reading, but also to pass the time waiting for everyone else to get themselves ready, or wait out the rain! There are obviously local stores that can supply you with all the food you need, but we always like to arrive with coffee, tea bags, a pint of milk, a bar of chocolate and some bread and butter for the toaster - it's good to get the energy up after a long journey. We have stayed in many types of cottage, and we've decided we like both traditional and modern - it just depends on where we're going.

Escape To Stretch Down

The rates for Stretch Down cottages are highest in the warmer months, generally aligning with the school holidays. July and August are usually school summer holidays.

Half term in the summer extends across the first half of June, as different schools break up at different times. Booking early is always a good idea. You have a much better chance of getting your preferred date and accommodation. But, that doesn't mean its impossible to get a late booking.

More and more cottages seem to be signing up with agencies to help with their bookings.

All About Cottages

Whether you're going away with friends or family to Stretch Down , you'll want to consider the type of accommodation you book. If you're travelling to Stretch Down in a group of single people, are there enough beds in the bedrooms?

Dogs need holidays too, so it can be fun to bring your favourite pooch to the Stretch Down cottage. Many places will accept dogs, but it's always a good idea to double check in advance if it's not mentioned on the booking website.

We want you to have a great holiday so we wish you the best of luck finding your perfect accomodation.

Cottages For Holidays

For many people the perfect UK holiday is staying in a cottage, and it's clearly an increasing trend. It just seems a little pointless to fly half way around the world when there are so many great places to see in Stretch Down .

For friends, families or couples a holiday can be a valuable break from the daily grind. We already have enough rules and timetables in our lives, and a cottage holiday provides total freedom.

No need to vacate your room when you want to be having a lie in, no need to feel bad about eating at a restaurant when you've already paid for your hotel meal.
